The Vint Hill and Greater Washington Region

Vint Hill is home to 59 growing businesses with 1,200 employees occupying 666,000 square feet. These businesses chose Vint Hill because the park offers a diverse living and working environment with attractive buildings, recreational facilities, and a future Main Street retail center with shops, a YMCA, and luxury residential condominiums. 43 acres of open space is under design for a linear park and open space. This parkland is adjacent to Main Street's restaurants and shops and may feature an ice-skating rink and amphitheater. In September 2007, Athena Technologies Inc. moved into its 43,000 square foot build-to-suit facility with a staff of 75. ICE Properties 30,000 square foot building and Walnut Grove’s 8,000 square foot child care facility was completed during 2007. Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) occupies 9,000 square feet with a staff of 35. Buccaneer Computer Systems & Service, Inc. has 78 employees that manage all Medicare medical claims from its Vint Hill location.

Location Accessibility
Vint Hill is located 40 miles southwest of Washington, DC on the eastern boundary of Fauquier County and Prince William County. Washington Dulles International Airport is 39 minutes away. The Manassas Regional Airport and the Warrenton/Fauquier Airport are each 20 minutes from Vint Hill.



Fauquier County Population
The County is growing at an annual growth rate of 1.7%, which is slower than the rest of the Metropolitan Washington DC region. The County’s population was estimated to be 62,900 in 2004.

Education Workforce
Fauquier County’s highly educated workforce is primarily employed in managerial and professional occupations (39.5%) and service occupations (13%). 27% of the County's population have a bachelor's degree or higher, compared to 29.5% in Virginia and 24.4% in the US as a whole. 58% of the County's workforce commutes out of the County for employment.

The Greater Washington Region

Greater Washington, the fourth-largest U.S. metro area, had $42 billion gross regional product in 2005. In the same year, nearly 72,000 jobs were added, significantly more jobs than each of the nation's three largest metro areas-New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Northern Virginia, largest of the sub-regions in Greater Washington, has matured into a world-class center for culture and employment. With the growth of services urban amenities, such as high-end restaurants and shops, and a large inventory and variety of housing types, employers are increasingly relocating in Northern Virginia.

Population
Greater Washington is the nation's fourth most populous metropolitan region. By 2010, the region's population is expected to grow by 8.5%, three times the projected growth of New York City. With a median household income of $72,799 in 2005, Greater Washington is the wealthiest among the nation's large metros.

Technology Growth
Greater Washington's technology cluster is one of the nation's largest, with the highest concentration of network and computer system administrators and programmers.

In Northern Virginia, strong technology clusters exist in defense electronics, information technology, biotechnology and bioinformatics, and telecommunications. The "Birthplace of the Internet", Northern Virginia has the highest concentration of bandwidth in the world.

Transportation
Greater Washington is served by three international airports that combined offer 1,085 daily nonstop flights to 95 destinations nationwide to 64.6 million passengers in 2005.

Education
More than 50 colleges and universities are based in the Greater Washington region, with more than 328,000 full-time students. Private and international schools are among the best in the country. The K-12 school systems rank in the top 17% nationally. K-12 programs range from foreign-language immersion to language/arts and science/technology-focused curriculum.

Home of the U.S. Government
The Federal government is the largest single technology consumer in the world. Regional federal procurement grew to $37.7 billion in 2002 - an increase of 142% in 10 years.

A Great Place To Live
Greater Washington has 85 professional theatre companies and more free attraction than any other U.S metro area. There are 234,000 acres of parkland and more than 800 miles of bikeways. 7 professional and major college sports programs are available and more than 8,000 restaurants and bars.
